If you're running pets and minions just to get a use out of Soul Reaping not only does that make Soul Reaping look bad as it gets pushed into a one hit wonder area, but you're playing with pets and minions which are both on the worst attributes in the game. Autoloss.

I don't know, I haven't tried it. I do know that SR is considered weak in PvP, and was trying to find a way in which it could be useful. I did hedge the statement with words like "could" and "I would imagine"; I am not sure if it could be pulled off or not - weakening one player by running minions and a pet for the gain of energy by the others might pay off, I can't know unless I test it, but I can see how the energy would be helpful. Since SR runs on deaths you have two types - yours and theirs. Generally your deaths are bad, so you don't want to rely on them, and theirs are good, but if they are dying then you might not need the energy - the deaths that swing the game the least are the minion/pet deaths - they don't cost either team much in terms of power but do generate energy for the necromancer, hence my suggestion of trying to make it work through that channel. Blackace might be right that the weakness of a minion/pet build is too much to compensate for the energy gain.

There is one actual nice "abuse" of Soul Reaping with low level spirits, but that goes against a much a better abuse of massive spirit walling. Then again, creating low level spirits that die fast isn't really going to help when teams catch on.

Actually I think a malign intervention is a very nice skill in death now ,but I imagine it will be changed eventually. I'd like to try a deep wound/malign intervention combo to really hurt the healing on a target.

I tried my blood necro/mes that I had built specifically for pve in a pvp environment and I failed miserably, lol. It's just trying to tackle two different monsters with the same hook, don't work well.
My first 3 characters are going to be a :
necro/mes
necro/ele
mes/necro
Why? Well with a necro/mes I think I'm gonna focus on making a massive DOT character. Should be pretty easy to pull off with spells like life transfer, life siphon, vampiric gaze, phantom pain, etc.... This will be mostly a pve character with maybe some pvp potential
necro/ele will be an experiment I will run with some different types of ideas
and mes/necro will be my support/anti-casting character for pvp.
Don't let anyone tell you a primary necro isn't good. It is. It's just that soul reaping highly depends on things dying quickly, in which case,(like pvp) you might want want to try a different build, to take advantage of things like energy storage, or fast casting.
